Blodgett, Bare Escentuals is a revolutionary cosmetics company based on pure
mineral extracts and botanical essences. After years of pore-clogging liquid
foundations, Bare Escentuals makeup offers a light, non-comodogenic foundation
that acne sufferers and those with clear skin alike can enjoy.
What is Bare Escentuals?
Although the brand is expanding rapidly, it is most
well-known for its mineral makeup line called i.d. Bare Minerals. The makeup
collection consists of foundations, shimmer powders, highlighters, cheek color,
eye shadows, lip gloss and brushes. Bare Minerals has gained mass popularity for
its 100% natural products that are so gentle to the skin that women can actually
wear them to bed without fear of a breakout the next day. Bare Minerals are free
from talc, mineral oil, preservatives and other chemicals that often cause bad
skin.
Bare Escentuals also has a new offshoot line called Buxom,
which focuses on vibrant lip glosses and plumping mascara. To complete the
collection, they offer skincare and ‘prep’ products including Skin Rev-er Upper
and Eye Primer.
Review of Bare Minerals
makeup by Bare Escentuals
Before I tried Bare Minerals makeup, I thought that
mineral cosmetics were all hype. Not wanting to spend a lot of money but curious to try this
new “miracle” product that everyone was talking about, I went to a drugstore and
bought a cheaper version by L’Oreal. After I brought it home and tried it on, I
was not impressed in the least. The powder was very matte and my skin felt dry,
tight and looked unnatural. I went on to try samples of various other brands but
couldn’t find either the price or color palette to suit me.
The following week, my sister brought over a Bare Minerals
kit that she just purchased to try it out on me with the help of the
instructional DVD. The starter kit is a box set that includes an instructional
DVD, 3 brushes, 2 shades of foundation and the Mineral Veil.
After she was done, I was sold. She’s not a makeup artist by
any means, but the difference in my skin tone was amazing. As a former
acne sufferer, I am always apprehensive about the breakouts that occur from using new
products, but my skin actually improved after using Bare Minerals foundation.
The best product of the whole kit is hands-down the Mineral Veil. This finishing
powder already has a cult following for its ability to make anyone’s skin look
airbrushed. Even if I don’t feel like wearing makeup, I always dust the Mineral
Veil on my face for an instant soft glow.
Since my love affair with Bare Minerals began, I’ve purchased
the eye shadows, bronzers and cheek tints, which all lived up to the Bare
Minerals standard. The only drawback is that the eye shadows are loose powders
and can take a lot of practice to get used to if you are used to using a
compacted eye shadow.
To anyone who is considering mineral makeup, you really get
what you pay for. For me, Bare Minerals had the best choice of foundation
shades, the most fashion-forward palette and the formula leaves my skin feeling
smooth and clear even if I wear it when I’m working out. Plus, the Mineral Veil
is a must-have in every woman’s makeup case!
