Tried and tested tips for
treating the most common forms of skin problems.
Most of us suffer with skin problems at some point in
our lives. However, the teenage years seem to be the worst time for most of us
and creates havoc with our skin complexion. The change in hormone balance gives
rise to all sorts of problems, not least the glands that secrete too much sebum
producing oily skin that forms a breeding ground for spots, blackheads and acne.
Solving the problem involves a good skin care program.
The face can be divided into areas where certain problems are
more likely to occur. For example, the forehead, nose and chin are where
blackheads and enlarged pores are likely to break out on the skin. Acne and
allergies can break out anywhere on the face, but one area prone to allergies is
the very delicate skin of the eyelids. Wrinkles tend to form in the space
between the eyebrows and 'crow's feet' in the corners of the eyes. The skin on
the cheeks is susceptible to broken veins and the lips can suffer from cold
sores.
So how can these problems be treated successfully? Spots,
blackheads and acne do not mean that you have dirty skin, but frequent washing
with a mild or natural soap can prevent the bacteria from spreading. The best
way to remove blackheads is to steam your face first over a bowl of water and
then use a facial scrub. Spots can be treated by dabbing them continually with
an antiseptic. Never squeeze them as you risk bruising the skin, bleeding and
broken veins.
Acne should be treated by your doctor as he may prescribe
an antibiotic treatment - but unfortunately, often the only solution is to wait to
grow out of it
Wrinkles are less likely to form and can be minimized by
regularly using a moisturizer and preferably one that contains a sunscreen, as
the UV in sunlight is one of the most common causes of premature aging of the
skin.
Broken veins are a very hard problem to treat and remove. The only
reasonable solution to this problem is hide them with well applied makeup.
To achieve healthy skin
though, the most important treatment is a healthy diet. Avoid sweets and greasy
food, eat more fresh fruit and vegetables and drink plenty of water.
