skin rashes
Skin rashes are usually not dangerous but, of
course, quick and effective relief is desired by anyone suffering from them.
It is always best to have skin rashes examined by a
physician in order to be diagnosed the appropriate treatment. The only way to
tell if a rash is an allergic reaction or a bigger skin problem is by consulting
a dermatologist.
A few simple measures could mean fast relief for
rashes.
Every
skin rash has its own set of
characteristics. These are location on the skin, distribution over the skin,
shape of the rash, pattern changes, redness, itchiness, raised texture or bumps,
and coverage either on the entire body or confinement to skin only in certain
areas. They may or may not be contagious and can be long or short term.
It is normal for people who have sensitive skin to
break out in rashes from heat, or detergent left on clothes, creating a skin
irritation. The skin is usually
red or inflamed and often itchy. You can minimize the risk of rashes due to
sensitive skin by using make-up, moisturizers, and sunscreen that are
hypo-allergenic, when using your best skin care products use less of them.
Wash your skin a maximum of twice a day and do not
use exfoliants. Only use astringent skin cleansers on oily skin, but of course,
use of any skin care products should be discontinued if a rash occurs. Try to use
a mild soap free skin cleanser. When using make-up such as foundation and
blusher, buy oil free types. The best skin care products in this case are
water-based, and non pore-clogging kinds called non-comedogenic.
The
best skin care products for
dry itchy skin are
the ones that are the most oily and gooey, usually in the form of a skin
ointment. Petroleum jelly is probably the best option for sensitive skin
care and
can be used on the rash two or three times a day. It is especially beneficial to
apply it to the skin once before bedtime. A good skin moisturizer may be all
that is required to relieve an itchy rash. If not then a doctor may prescribe
something stronger for the rash with hydrocortisone or steroids.
