The 1800's became an era when lipstick and other cosmetic products were considered the infamous trademark of
only actors and prostitutes. Makeup was definitely out of vogue thanks to a very
influential lady called Queen Victoria.
Different types of lipsticks
can be different forms of lip treatments.
Since the world experienced the
tragic consequences of World War II the need for a brighter more encouraging
look in fashion became paramount. Hollywood actresses became lipsticks most
formidable promoters. The portraits of actresses such as Marilyn Monroe and
Rita
Hayworth could reach the eyes of millions of women in one photo shoot.
Influencing women everywhere to wear beautiful new lip makeup colors.
Lipsticks of different types
have
emerged. Shimmer lipsticks, creme lipstick lip gloss,
lip balm moisturizer cream and even permanent lipstick.
There are not many women who do not carry a tube of some kind of lip color on
them wherever they go. Every day lip color is applied with very little thought,
some even sticking with the same lip color and brand for years. Does this mean
that lipsticks are taken for granted?
The thought of lipsticks as a
form of treatment might sound a little odd, but what goes into lip products is
food for thought. As well as the usual oil and fat products found in lipsticks
and lip gloss, manufacturers are adding moisturizers, vtamin E,
aloe vera, collagen, amino acids and sunscreen. If you have problems with dry, chapped or
tired lips, your choice of lipsticks can either help or hinder your lip problems.
Lip creme is rich in moisture,
leaving your lips irresistably soft and beautiful. Frosted lipsticks include a
pearlised agent. This is often a bismuth compound which protects lips from the
elements. Shimmers often contain aloe and glycerine with vitamin E. This means
that they give your lips a wet look whilst making them more hydrated. Stain and
sheer lipsticks also moisturize because they contain a high conentration of oil.
So the next time you are looking
for your usual lipstick or lip gloss, you may decide to look for more than
simply color.
