Angel
by Thierry Mugler

One of the most defining
fragrances of the century, Angel created a frenzy when it hit the market in
1992. A scent so unique, it created its own category in the fragrance market -
Oriental gourmand.
What Thierry Mugler say....
In the beginning was the Star…creator Thierry Mugler's
talisman. A presence of dreams, a celestial light. The Angel Star Collection
gave birth to a genuine collection of bottles which each year incorporate new
limited editions. Each bottle is a work of art, mixing sparkles of light, the
magic of sculpted glass and celestial colour. A new Icon for Angel. The New
Angel: Glamorous, sensuous and voluptuous.
What we say....
Personally, I am a great fan of
Thierry Mugler, but am not a fan of Angel. I immediately found the fragrance too
sweet and heady - one small spritz in the morning left me drunk with Angel all
day. This is a perfume that has to work with your skin chemistry, and it just
didn’t mesh well with mine. However, I have smelled it on other women who wore
it beautifully - and in moderation. Angel is perfect for women who like romantic
scents, but for those who like woody, exotic scents it is quite off-putting.
Our verdict:
Love it or hate it, Angel is an iconic perfume not
only for the groundbreaking formula, but for the varying emotions that it
evokes. Mugler wanted to create a revolutionary debut fragrance, and has
accomplished this with Angel.
What others say....
“Love it & have used for years
receiving many compliments! I would not recommend to anyone as I don't want to
share; like people to think of me when they smell it!” Delaney (Edmonton,
Canada)
“I have used Angel every since it
was first promoted on the fragrance line...It has a very sweet aromatic smell
that everyone likes and the compliments are many...” Lindy (Spring Hill, FL)
“All I smelled in this perfume
was patchouli. I hated it, and attempted to scrub it off of my wrist after
waiting for the fragrance to change as they sometimes do. After three
scrubbings, the scent was still there. Patchouli, Patchouli, Patchouli. Yuck!”
PF (Aurora, IL)
“Angel gets great reviews from
others, but not from me. On me it smells like RAID, the bug spray - or "Brut",
the men's cologne of the 60's. It is sticky sweet - and overpowering. I was
looking for the vanilla/chocolate/caramel notes that it’s advertised to have - I
sure didn't smell any vanilla, chocolate or caramel! I did buy an unboxed
product, so I paid less, but I was still very disappointed. Don't believe the
hype and buy a sample if you must check this scent for yourself. It may smell
different on you.” J (Puget Sound, WA)
“Originally received as a gift,
now I would not be without Angel. A little too much for the summer, but I love
it on cold fall and winter days. I have never worn Angel when I did not receive
numerous compliments from strangers, people at work, friends. Apply it very
sparingly, as it can be overpowering. It's pricey, but you get what you pay for,
and since you use only a little, it lasts a long time.” Annie (USA)
